During our trip through Alaska my wife and I looked for wildlife at every port of our journey. We stopped in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier National Park, College Fjord, Seward, and Sitka. After all, Alaska is known for Bald Eagles, Kodiak Bears, Black Bears, Brown Bears, Grizzley Bears, Whales of all kinds, Sea Otters, Seals and Salmon, to name just a few. On one tour I did get close to a bear. I believe I was REALLY, REALLY close as I could smell it's "wildness". After a short pursuit I was finally able to capture a picture of my Alaskan prey and here it is: I believe the last word in the description could be misspelled, but I'm not a native Alaskan.

Our second port of call was Juneau. A land-locked city and the Capital of Alaska. Doctors Jyl and Leon and I took a tour of the area and our bus drove right past the capital building, but it looks just like any other office building you can see in any other US city. Our tour included a trip to the Mendenhall Glacier. Our tour guide was a former school teacher and I haven't had a geologic explanation about glaciers since I took geology in college. We stopped at the glacier for about an hour and just walked around. But before we got to the glacier we stopped along the roadside, about 5 miles away, and took some photos. I have posted one here.
